I’m back…

I had an awesome time in Chicago.  Billy Elliott was spectacular!  I think I cried about three times. We had great seats.  Wish I could’ve seen the Lion King which opened when I left.  Speaking of seats…flew first class both ways.  I spent $400 to upgrade since the tickets were already booked.  Not sitting crammed up in coach for 12 hours made it worth it for me.  I enjoyed the Narita Sky lounge immensely…ate sushi, soup and drank beer.  The meals were of high quality.  You get to board first.  Your luggage is boarded first.  My suitcase was definitely over 50 lbs…should have paid excess baggage fees, but did not!   I rented a GPS system for $100 from Hertz.

Anyway, did shop for shoes and clothes at my favorite malls.   I decided to do a chemical peel for about $250.  My skin had been bothering me, so while in Chicago I went ahead and booked an appointment.  I also got a peel system and some latisse for an additional $250.  I bought a beautiful Marc Jacobs bag and wallet.  Needless to say, my budget for October is a bit messed up.

I did have $2660 in my vacation fund.  What I do not have is a clothes fund!  This is the first time all year that I have shopped for anything since my last shopping spree in Dec.  I spent about $2,000 on clothes, shoes and a pocketbook/wallet during this trip.  I still plan on paying $1,000 extra on my rental mortgage.  I changed up my Roth funds before I left, so I need to reconfigure the automatic investing part.

Oh, the baby’s confirmation ceremony was lovely.  The baby is so gorgeous.  His mother and I have been friends for 21 years!  I have never been a godmother before…am flattered that she chose me.  Thinking about putting $50 or $100 a year in savings bonds or something like that.

I also saw The Town with my brother in the new ICON theatre on Roosevelt.  Really enjoyed the flick.  Not a Ben Affleck fan, but might become one after this movie. On another note, the Ipad did complement my trip very well.  The one thing I hated was the 250 MB data plan from ATT for $14.99.  I should have signed up for the 2 GB plan for $25.  The 250 MB plan was done after 2-4 days.  You cannot download any shows from iTunes.  ATT should not even had the 250 MB plan as an option.

I caught a cold upon arriving home.  I had to cancel going out to a Seoul jazz club…needed to recuperate!  Well, those are the highlights.  Back to the grind.
